Fighting the same battles perpetually, with no end in sight isn’t good for you or the party with which you’re in conflict.
There are two ways to get out of a loop. The first way is to change the game.
In relation to an employer or boss, rededicating yourself to the work and deciding to “be the change you want to see” in the organization changes the game. It moves you from a negative, overly-critical mindset into a constructive, problem solving one, thus allowing you to get out of your own way, and make sure you weren’t the problem to begin with.
The other way to get out of a loop is to leave.
Once the same difficult conversations have been had several times and your efforts have been redoubled, but nothing seems to be changing, it may be time to leave. There’s no use wasting your time, energy, and talent at a job that’s not helping you achieve your goals, or where your ideas and convictions aren’t supported by the people in charge.
If you stay in the loop, you’ll find yourself compromising your convictions. Your motivation will wane. You’ll slip into mediocrity. You’ll do average work.
Don’t let yourself get bogged down in an endless loop.
Be 100% committed, do your best work, have honest conversations with the ones in charge, and if it’s obvious you’re still not making progress, have the courage to make a move.
